This lovely example came from the long-time collection of a U.C. Berkeley Ph.D. committee board member when we obtained it in 2005 for a client who became its second long-term owner. A second client had been searching independently for a high-quality 280SL for over two years when he realized the effort involved. In an inspired moment, he concluded the most efficient way to have the car he desired in his specification, was to buy the right car condition-wise and build his dream car around it. In 2016 we purchased this car on his behalf from our first client. This low mileage, highly authentic Pagoda then benefited from a Motoring Investments cosmetic restoration (over $85,000) after which she was garage kept in Del Mar, CA and driven on nice days for only 1900 miles. Estate planning recently brought her back to us. With just 69,000 actual miles on a car with examples known for going well over 200,000 this is a world-class W113 Pagoda in every sense of the word.
