This first full production year 190SL was the subject of a full, multi-year, restoration without regard to cost. Recently completed with 142 test miles, she is ready for the open road or the concours d’elegance lawn. Photo documentary of the restoration is available. 

The early 190SL Mercedes cars are special for many reasons including their use of the seats from the iconic 300SL Gullwing and roadster. This car escaped the ravages of rust which plagued many of the other examples. Still, her longtime owner (since 1972) ordered a full restoration in order to bring her to the state when, in 1956 she was showroom new. 

After caring for this family member for a staggering fifty-two years, the previous owner (at 82-years-young), decided during a family meeting they would pass the torch to the next long-term caretaker.

All aspects of this car have been rebuilt or renewed from the engine to the stainless-steel exhaust. From top to bottom and in and out, from the rich oldtimer leather to the lustrous and deep graphite gray exterior finish, virtually everything has been renewed.

Whether you enjoy interstate touring, carving up twisty mountain roads, displaying your treasure on the show car lawn, or even at a Cars ‘n Coffee or a cruise night, this willing steed could be just your ticket. One cannot drive this car without getting admiring glances and thumbs ups. I’ve even had people shooting video and taking pictures while filling up for gas. She could even be the focal point of ones Hobby shop or the anchor for a collection of Fifties and sixties sports cars. 

This car even has the rare ‘third seat’ aka ‘transverse’ rear seat or what some call, a ‘kinderseat’!
